Neither of us slept well last night because it was so hot in our room. Can you believe it with all the snow outside we actually got hot? When we finally got up in the morning, Joe was really sore from skiing!
Tina and Amanda went into to down today to try to get reservations for New Year’s Eve. Les Gets is quite a small town and very few shop owners or restaurant personnel speak English. The two of us trying to speak French to get a reservation must have been quite hilarious especially since neither of us could remember the word for “tomorrow.” We also shopped quite a bit and lots of fun souvenirs and gifts were purchased.

One of the things that we loved about this small French town was all the different food shops. As we strolled down the sidewalks of Les Gets, this particular sausage display captured our attention:
Later in the day while Tori and Joe took showers and rested a bit after ski school, Tina, Nick and Amanda drove around Les Gets for a long time tonight trying to get reservations for New Year’s Eve but we had no luck.
For dinner, we ate at Le Carnotzet which was cozy and small (about 8 table) restaurant. Nick, Tina, Amanda and Joe ordered the Baeckenhoffe which is a traditional dish of the Alsace region made of beef, pork and potatoes served in their own juices. Everyone except Amanda loved the meal and Amanda envied Tori’s wild mushroom risotto.
